The murder suspect charged in the death of James McClernon withdrew his not guilty plea during his trial hearing on Monday.
34 year old Ricky Kiper Jr. agreed to do so, as long as the state removed the firearm enhancement charge.
Last July, Kiper went to the home of McClernon on Maggie Valley Drive and asked for him.
When McClernon came to the door that’s when Kiper shot him twice killing him.
Kiper told police that he had no remorse when he shot the victim, because he was a sex offender.
His sentencing is set for the morning of February 23.
