UPDATE: Police have confirmed that the shooter was a former employee of Walmart.
He shot a female employee.
She was taken to the hospital.
Her condition is not known at this time.
ORIGINAL STORY: A shooting took place inside the the Walmart on South Red Bank Road in Evansville around 10:00 last night.
As soon as officers were notified they arrived on scene immediately and went right into the store.
Officers were given a description of the shooter, assembled a team and began to look for him.
The suspect would fire at officers then run off, leading them around the store.
Several shots were fired between the shooter and police until the suspect was shot dead.
At least one person was shot by the suspect and taken to the hospital.
Their condition is unknown.
No officers were injured.
Its said that it started in the Walmart break room, but that has not been confirmed.
Police will know more after they speak with witnesses.
