Last month an Evansville woman was arrested and accused of writing over twenty bad checks over a two month period totaling close to $6,000.
These checks were made out to Cathy Ott.
The victim told police he did not know who Ott was.
Bank surveillance videos showed 61 year old Cathy Ott and 35 year old Ashley Coomes cashing checks at the drive-thru on several occasions.
Police later discovered that Coomes was the mother of the victim’s great grandson.
Ott was booked into the Vanderburgh County jail on 36 fraud charges, 16 forgery charges and 5 theft charges.
She has since been released on bond.
