Applications are available along with nice incentives, if hired with the Mt. Vernon Police Department.
Police Chief Andy Rush says a $10,000 hiring bonus will be given to new hires in two $5,000 increments.
The first half will be given after successful completion of the first year, and the other half after three years of service.
More perks that come with the job: insurance, annual sick, personal and vacation days, holiday pay and and annual clothing allowance.
The department is looking to hire at least four more officers.
