The city of Evansville started off 2023 with a murder just after 1:00 a.m. New Year’s Day.
Evansville police officers were dispatched to the area of Showplace Cinemas in North Park.
21 year old Brandon Schaefer called 9-1-1 and told them that he had just shot someone in the head, and their body would be located behind the theater.
Officers located 49 year old Todd Roll’s deceased body partially laying in a creek.
The firearm was also located nearby.
Schaefer was arrested at his apartment without incident and charged with murder.
He did not know the victim.
