A special presentation was held for Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding and Leslie Buckman the director of Central dispatch.
She is retiring on January 6.
It took place at the annual Fire Chief’s Association’s Christmas banquet at the Log Inn, Wednesday night.
Wedding received an “Honorary Fire Chief” award.
Wedding’s law enforcement career spanned 42 years, but his original goal was to become a firefighter.
Wedding will hand the wand over to Chief Deputy Noah Robinson on January 1.
