Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights will be CLOSED THURSDAY, DEC. 22, due to severe weather.
Easterseals encourages the community to VISIT TONIGHT – WED., DEC. 21 – and plan to enjoy the event on other nights through Jan. 1!
For only the third time in the event’s 29-year history, Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights will be closed due to severe weather on Thursday, Dec. 22. With unsafe temperatures, a wind chill warning, and hazardous road conditions in the forecast, Easterseals’ top priority is the health and safety of event volunteers and visitors to the drive-through light display in Evansville’s Garvin Park. Easterseals encourages the community to visit TONIGHT – WED., DEC. 21 – before the winter storm arrives on Thursday.
Organizers are hopeful that Dec. 22 is the only night the event will be closed, but will make additional announcements if needed at www.ritzysfantasyoflights.com and www.facebook.com/eastersealsrehabctr.
Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights is a festive and elaborate drive-through light show featuring almost 100,000 LED lights, and is an important fundraiser for the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center. It is scheduled to be open nightly 5-9pm through Jan. 1 (5-10pm on Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve). Admission per vehicle for up to 6 people is $7; 7-14 people $10; 15 or more people $25. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.ritzysfantasyoflights.com or any Evansville Ritzy’s, or at the event in Garvin Park.
All proceeds provide inclusive early education and essential therapy services for local children and adults with disabilities who couldn’t otherwise afford them. Last year, up to 4,460 of those life-changing sessions were underwritten by Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights admission fees and extra donations from light show visitors and supporters. Unfortunately, this year’s bad weather is arriving around the holidays, when the show traditionally hosts the most visitors of the season. This could potentially reduce proceeds by several thousand dollars. Easterseals urges the community to drive through Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights as soon as the weather improves, and to continue enjoying the “magical mile of holiday lights” all the way through New Year’s Day.
People are also invited to help Easterseals overcome the weather’s negative impact by donating at www.ritzysfantasyoflights.com or by mailing a gift to Easterseals, 3701 Bellemeade Ave., Evansville IN 47714.
