Several Evansville firefighters were honored for their brave actions Wednesday night at the Civic Center.
Daniel Brown was given a silver merit award for saving the life of a woman he witnessed fall off a bridge.
He went in after her and brought her to shore and waited until the water rescue team arrived.
Firefighters lieutenant Johnathon Haire, Lucas Macke and Dalton Gray each received a bronze merit.
They rescued seven people from a house fire, most of them children.
3 year old Ophelia Young would later die in the hospital.
The EFD training division was named the 2022 Indiana Fire Chief’s Association Training Division of the year.
