Monday night the westbound lane of I-64 was closed for several hours after a semi carrying 58 cows overturned near Lynnville.
The trailer had to be cut open by first responders to rescue the herd.
Nearby farmers helped in rounding up some of the cows to put them onto another trailer.
The driver received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Police say around 14 cows are still roaming free.
Thirteen others were injured and had to be put down.
