Suspect Charged With Fraud After Trying To Cash Phony Check

An Evansville man tried to cash a fake check for nearly $4,000 at German American Bank.

The check claimed to be from Meyer Truck Equipment.

The teller knew the check was fraudulent, because a memo was sent out about a fake check on the same account.

Employees were able to stall the man and make a copy of the check and his ID.

35 year old Frank Lewis became impatient and left.

Lewis was booked into the Vanderburgh County jail on Tuesday and charged with fraud.
