Triple “A” is predicting that over 50 million people will be traveling for for the holidays this year.
The Indiana State Police will ramp up enforcement as part of the “Safe Family Travel” campaign.
For the next several weeks officers will be out in greater numbers conducting saturation patrols.
This is in hopes to discourage impaired driving and to help promote seat belt use.
This campaign will run through New Year’s Day.
Experts say the best time to travel is before 8am or after 8pm on Wednesday.
The worst time to hit highways will be between 11am and 3pm on Thanksgiving day.
