Tis the season to be jolly and hopefully not scammed.
One Evansville resident had a close call after receiving a phone call Wednesday morning.
The person on the other end claimed to be a police officer from Alabama.
The victim says he was told that there was a warrant for his arrest for missing jury duty.
The phony policeman said they would drop the warrant if he got two gift cards for $500 each.
The victim purchased the gift cards then went to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s office to ask questions.
He was told that is was a scam and advised to call 911 to get a report so that he could get his money back.
