The Perry County Coroner’s office says the man killed in an officer-involved shooting on Friday didn’t shoot himself.
22 year old Payton Masterson died from a lone gunshot wound to the right side rib cage.
The coroner also said the shot did not come from Masterson’s gun.
On Friday, Masterson refused a traffic stop before shooting at officers.
He then got out of his truck and ran before stealing another vehicle.
Masterson took officers on a chase that ended in the parking lot of the Tell City Police Department, ramming a number of patrol cars.
He fled to his nearby apartment and again shot at officers before being hit by return fire.
