Officers arrested 57 year old Charles Brumitt on Monday and charged him with aggravated battery.
Originally, Brumitt told EPD that a woman broke into his home on Roselawn Circle.
There was a struggle over a gun when the female was shot in the hand.
The female told police she met Brumitt at CVS and the two went back to his home and did meth together.
They both fell asleep.
When she woke up, she tried to leave and Brumitt grabbed her and pulled her back into the house.
He then hit her in the head and pointed a rifle at her.
The gun went off as she was directing it away from her.
She was taken to the hospital.
Brumitt has since been released from jail.
