The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a scam regarding tax warrants.
One resident received a phone call about a judgement against their property.
They were told that a letter would be sent to help them with their taxes.
If you receive such a call, officials say to hang up.
The letter states, in fine print, that they are a third party company and not the IRS.
The IRS won’t call you, but instead send you a letter directly.
If you are dealing with the IRS, you’ll be calling them, not them calling you.
