A Gary, Indiana murder case from 1994 has been solved and a Madisonville man has been charged.
60 year old Gerald Smith is accused of murder while committing or attempting to commit rape.
The victim, 69 year old Gloria Hansell, was found strangled inside her home.
DNA collected in the case was re-examined in 2020 and matched with Smith.
Investigators were able to place Smith, 32 years old at the time, in Gary right before Hansell’s murder.
