Don Mattingly announced on Sunday that when his contract ends this season with the Miami Marlins he will not be back next year.
He says he and team officials have decided a new voice is needed to lead the club going forward.
Mattingly managed five seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the last seven with the Marlins.
Donnie Baseball spent his entire 14 year career playing with the New York Yankees.
The 61 year old says he is looking forward to spending time with his family in Evansville.
No word yet of any future plans.
