Indiana State Police are investigating a shooting that took place around 8:45 Friday night in Posey County.
Dispatch received a call from a home in Mt. Vernon in reference to a man and woman who had been shot.
Detectives say 58 year old Herbert Wade was allegedly shot by his wife, Melissa Wade and found on the living room floor with a wound to his chest.
Melissa had an accidental self inflicted gunshot wound to her leg.
They were both transported to the hospital.
Herbert is being treated for life threatening injuries.
A juvenile was inside the home during the shooting and not injured.
