Mesker Park Zoo officials passed along sad news to followers on Facebook Tuesday about the passing of one of their big cats.
18 year old Cuxtal a male Jaguar, made his appearance in the Amazonia habitat in 2008.
Recently, Cuxtal’s animal care team noticed a change in behavior and decreased appetite.
A exam was done under anesthesia, which he did not recover from.
The test showed that Cuxtal suffered from severe kidney disease and lymphoma.
The median life expectancy for Jaguars under human care is 18 years.
