Supporting Heroes, an organization that is there for families when a first responder dies in line of duty, held their Tribute gala Saturday evening at the Owensboro Convention Center.
This year there were 72 heroes to honor.
That number is higher then previous years due to Covid and attacks on Public Safety officers by criminals.
When a death occurs, Supporting Heroes gives the immediate survivor, normally the spouse, a $5,000 emergency fund check.
Funeral costs are also covered by the organization.
This is all done by donations.
