CenterPoint is alerting customers of reported increases in door-to-door, phone call and text message scams.
Reports of people pretending to work for the company have asked to check electric meters at customer’s homes, as well as, threaten to disconnect service.
CenterPoint says they will never demand payment over the phone to avoid disconnection.
If you are approached with what is believed to be a scam report it to customer service or file a complaint with police.
