The mayor along with the City of Evansville has opened up the CK Newsome Community Center as a cooling station.
People without air conditioning are encouraged to leave the dangerous heat and cool off today from 8:00 am to 5 pm.
Mayor Winnecke says there hasn’t been a large turnout and that’s why the center is only open through tomorrow.
The more interest from the public, the city is willing to adjust to fit people in until it cools off.
