Parents with infants are well aware of the baby formula shortage.
Director of Vanderburgh County Women, Infants and Children’s Program, Mary Ellen Stonestreet, says part of the problem is a shortage of labor and materials to make the cans.
In February, Abbott had a recall on some of their powder formulas, because of a concern of Salmonella.
Local pharmacies say, their shelves are either bare or they have a limited supply.
Stonestreet says, WIC is contracted with the Gerber brand and hasn’t seen a problem.
