A 2.4 magnitude earthquake was confirmed by the United States Geological Survey.
It happened around 8:45 Tuesday night.
It was recorded two miles southeast of Spingerton close to the Hamilton-White county line.
According to the USGS website, as of 3:30 this morning reports of 13 people feeling the tremble.
This included the areas of Carmi, McLeansboro and an hour away in Evansville.
No damage was reported.
