Wednesday former deputy coroner Christopher Leduc pleaded guilty to official misconduct and theft charges.
Officials say he is accused of stealing money from a person whose death he was investigating in 2020.
Police say they found several medicine bottles in the trash with the name of the person from the same investigation.
Leduc was released from the coroner’s office, and suspended without pay as Captain with the Evansville Fire Department, which he has since retired.
Sentencing is scheduled for march 8.
