The Indiana Department of Health said on Sunday that the first case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 has been detected in Indiana.
The C-D-C says Indiana was one of seven states where the Omicron variant had not shown up, until the weekend.
I-D-O-H says the detected case involves an unvaccinated Indiana resident.
Hoosier health commissioner Kris Box says COVID cases are already ion the rise, and no one wants the Omicron strain to further tax an overburdned health care system.
