It was a day that has lived in infamy, even after 80 years.
On December 7, 1941, 2,400 U-S servicemen and civilians were killed in a surprise attack by Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft — an attack that also decimated the U-S Navy fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
The attack catapulted the United States into World War II bringing to bear the nation’s industrial might to bear.
In Evansville, P-47s, LSTs and much ammunition contributed to a successful war effort.
