The Gehlhausen Home Accessories store in Evansville ordered 350 Christmas trees that were expected to arrive in June.
They’re still in New York port awaiting transit to Indiana.
They now have an expected arrival date of November 8.
Store owner Laura Smith says her business is plagued by shipping delays and higher costs, much as other independent merchants are experiencing.
She says ocean freight rates have nearly tripled from the same time last year.
