Perry County leaders have come to agreement with the Tell City administration on the future of the county’s central dispatch operations.
At issue was who answers the phone when someone calls 9-1-1.
The new agreement has the Tell City police department continuing to provide service while a second dispatch operation will be established in the Perry County courthouse annex.
Equipment for the operation is already in place and funds have been budgeted.
The courthouse dispatch center will begin handling calls January 1 and will be overseen by a combined city and county committee.
