Henderson Municipal Gas customers can expect increases as much as 40 to 50 percent during this heating season,.
Utility officials say that’s because natural gas prices have been rising nationally for months.
Henderson Municipal Gas director Tim Clayton says issues in the supply chain and storage have driven wholesale prices up by as much as 100 percent.
Other factors include warmer than normal temperatures this summer, and increased use of gas in power production.
Clayton says an early cold snap could drive prices even higher.
He recommends that those who need to, take advantage of utility assistance programs that are already in place.
