It’s become a tradition on the WIKY Morning Show, Dan and Jim Griese construct a unique food dish using foods found in Fall Festival booths. Two years ago it was the Herzinfarkt sandwich which was basically everything in the Germania Maennerchor booth. Herzinfarkt is the German word for “heart attack.”
This year’s entry varied from tradition and instead of one booth, this sandwich was made with ingredients from three booths. WIKY’s Golden Acorn Awards for the Best of the Festival were booth #5 (F.O.P.) for their Pulled Pork Spicy Mac & Cheese, Booth #94 (AMVETS) Ribeye and Booth #45 (St Paul UCC Boy Scouts) the Scoutmaster Chili taking the top spot. Combine them all and there you have it: The Triple Acorn Sandwich. It’s a mess but the flavors work somehow. And you get far fewer chest pains than eating a Herzinfarkt sandwich.
