A Loogootee man faces child abuse charges after physically disciplining a foster child he was caring for.
Jasper police say it happened in McAlister’s Deli on Saturday afternoon.
The discipline reportedly included choking and slapping the victim.
The victim and suspect were gone when police arrived, but 61 year old Clinton Burgess was tracked to his home in Loogootee where he was interviewed and then arrested.
The victim and a sibling were removed from Burgess’ care by child protective services.
