Evansville police were sent to the 1000 block of Fulton Avenue about 12:30 Sunday morning on a report of a hit and run.
On arrival they found a person lying in the middle of the street with serious injuries.
The person, identified as 63 year old John D. Knight, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, and later died of the injuries.
Officers say a driver struck Knight and sped off.
They’re looking for the car and asking the public’s help.
Witnesses say it was a light colored passenger car that was traveling southbound on Fulton when it struck the victim.
