The word has come down from the City of Evansville Housing Authority to the owners of Woodland Park Apartments: Get a plan in place to catch up delinquent utility payments by 5:00 o’clock today (Friday), or tenants on city vouchers will be allowed to break their leases without penalty, and find other accommodations.
Center Point has notified the apartments that services to tenants will be cut off in August if the company does not live up to its payment schedule.
City Councilman Alex Burton says he and a coalition of others plan to be back at the complex today, talking to people.
“This isn’t about one person or one organization taking the lead,” Burton said. “This is about us working together to solve a problem.” Burton said he believes there’s about a 45-day window for people to act.
