Evansville’s own LST-325 was one of hundreds of similar ships that landed on the beaches of Normandy 77 years ago this Sunday.
Many of those ships, though ironically NOT the 325, were built in the so-called cornfield shipyard in Evansville.
Ship managers are planning a special remembrance of that anniversary, inviting people to come walk the decks of a ship that was actually there.
There’ll be military re-enactments aboard and ashore.
