Amber Dawn Lazo was sworn in as an Evansville Police officer in 2020, but left immediately for a military deployment.
A couple of weeks after her swearing-in ceremony, police became aware of a felony welfare fraud warrant against her.
After Lazo came home from her deployment, officers served the warrant and arrested her, booking her into the Vanderburgh County Jail.
