Those 1400 new workers expected to be hired by Toyota are putting a lot of pressure on the Gibson County housing market.
A local realtor says there just aren’t many houses on the market right now.
And building new ones slowed to a crawl during the 2008 economic crash and hasn’t turned back around.
And that’s made worse by people being cooped up during the pandemic and looking for new homes, and favorable interest rates to go with the demand.
As we reported earlier this week, Toyota is investing $803 million in its Gibson County plant and hiring another 1400 workers to handle two new lines of electric SUVs.
