The Evansville-built P-47 that landed at the airport in October is now the official Indiana State aircraft.
That’s according to a bill signed Monday by Governor Eric Holcomb.
The plane formerly known as Tarheel Hal was built by Republic Aviation at the plant that became Whirlpool after the war.
The plane, parked at the Evansville Wartime Museum, will shortly get a new paint job to demonstrate more fully its Indiana origins.
