The Skatepark Project (Formerly The Tony Hawk Foundation https://skatepark.org/) has awarded Evansville’s Sunset Skatepark Project $10,000 to go towards the completion of a free, accessible public concrete skatepark on the Evansville Riverfront within Evansville’s Promise Zone. This project will connect the current Micky’s Kingdom Playground to the new EWSU Pump Station Project along the Greenway.
A grassroots movement to build a concrete skatepark in Evansville was spearheaded by the skate community many years ago and we are so excited to finally be able to create a safe, fun and active gathering space for the entire community, of all ages and abilities. This park will be a much-needed upgrade to replace Evansville’s current Lamasco Skatepark that opened in 2001.
Sunset Skatepark is continuing to raise funds, and hopes to break ground this year. The project has already raised $13,000 to this goal through fundraisers, auctions, and the Sunset Skatepark Go Fund Me Campaign.
