Evansville fire crews handled a working fire in a house at 1404 North Weinbach early this morning.
Four people were in the house when the fire broke out — all of them got out safely.
They told firefighters that they saw smoke coming from the basement and called 9-1-1.
There were several pets in the home. Firefighters revived two dogs and a cat but several of the pets died.
