About a thousand CenterPoint Energy customers found themselves without power in the early morning.
Spokeswoman Alyssia Oshodi says it happened when wildlife got into an electric substation on Lower Mt. Vernon Road and caused damage to some of the equipment.
The outage was concentrated mainly in Posey County where it darkened some traffic lights, causing a potentially dangerous traffic situation.
