University of Southern Indiana Women’s Basketball will withdraw from the upcoming Great Lakes Valley Conference Basketball Tournament due to COVID-19.
The U-S-I men had previously announced that they would opt out of the conference tournament as well.
The third-seeded women’s team was scheduled to play its first-round game tomorrow (Wednesday) against William Jewell College.
USI Director of Athletics Jon Mark Hall said it had become evident that the Screamin’ Eagles would not have enough healthy players.
As withy the men’s team, U-S-I is among eight teams that are under consideration for selection for the NCAA II Midwest Regional.
Those selections will be announced Sunday.
