Evansville police and the FBI held a news conference late Wednesday morning to remind the public about a missing person case.
Dawnita Wilkerson vanished over the Fathers’ Day Weekend of 2020, which is about eight months ago.
The FBI agent attending Wednesday morning’s news conference did not speak.
E-P-D Detective Jeff Hands is the lead investigator on the case.
He released new photos and requested the public’s help.
He said Wilkerson, the mother of six, was last seen getting into a silver or gray 2016 Chevrolet Suburban on the weekend she disappeared.
Hands says investigators believe she travelled in that car to the west from Southwestern Indiana into Southern Illinois.
The car has not been found and police are asking the public to be alert for it.
But the car’s owner has been located and is not cooperating with the investigators.
Police are concentrating their investigation in the Carbondale and Marion Illinois area and in Evansville.
They’re asking that anyone who has seen the car to give them a call.
