Four people were taken to the hospital after a late afternoon crash at Highway 57 and Kansas Road.
It happened just after 5:00pm Wednesday.
Officials believe a car sped through a red light after hitting a patch of snow, colliding with a van.
The force of the impact was so severe that the car was cut in half.
The driver was taken to Deaconess Midtown Hospital with life-threatening injuries
The three people in the van were also taken for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office believes alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
