Two E-P-D Detectives were shadowing a suspected car thief when the suspect got hung up in the snow.
One of the detectives confronted the suspect who freed the car from the snow and allegedly tried to run the detective down.
The detective drew his service weapon and fired one round.
The bullet hit the suspect in the shoulder.
Uniformed officers assisted in trying to get the suspect out of the car.
But despite being shot he continued to fight and to resist arrest.
He was finally tased which subdued him and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Exact charges are pending.
Sgt Nick Winset says he suspect is well known to police detectives.
The detective who fired the shot is on administrative leave as is normal protocol for a police-involved shooting.
