The University of Evansville reverses itself on one part of a proposed realignment that would remove 17 majors and considerable staff from its curriculum.
The university now says the music department has been removed from the chopping block after leaders noted widespread support for the program.
Department heads say they’re excited to be off he table in regards to programs that are scheduled for removal, an hope to be playing music and teaching others to, for a long time.
The plan that saved the department will include its becoming Conservatory of Music, offering private lessons and other community outreach programs.
Also as a part of he plan a fund is being established to renovate Wheeler Concert Hall.
