Several Indiana state parks will close in the coming weeks for controlled deer hunts.
Such hunting helps maintain the deer population at a level that doesn’t damage the habitat for plants and other animals.
Each affected park will close to visitors for two-day hunts; they’ll re-open the day after the hunt ends.
Hunters will be selected from a drawing.
The affected parks are:
- Brown County,
- Chain O’Lakes,
- Charlestown,
- Fort Harrison,
- Harmonie,
- Lincoln,
- McCormick’s Creek,
- Ouabache,
- Pokagon,
- Potato Creek,
- Prophetstown,
- Shades,
- Spring Mill,
- Turkey Run,
- Versailles, and Whitewater Memorial state parks,
- Trine State Recreation Area.
