Last week, the Metropolitan School District of Mt. Vernon shut down its classroom suddenly because too many staff members were in quarantine and there was a shortage of qualified substitutes.
Students were relegated to on-line learning.
Schools are preparing to re-open on Monday, even s the county moves to a red designation on the state’s COVID dashboard, and confirmed cases continue to rise.
School officials say they’re taking things a day at a time.
