Finally the weather on both ends of a flight cooperated, and the P-47 Thunderbolt known as Tarheel Hal arrived safely in Evansville Saturday afternoon.
Flight authorities say the aircraft stopped in Arkansas for fuel.
The plane was actually due in town Thursday but rain on this end forced a postponement till Friday when rain on THAT end put off the flight for one more day.
The aircraft landed about 4pm Saturday.
The plane was built in Evansville in the closing months of Work War II.
It’s journey home was made possible by fundraising by the Evansville P-47 Foundation. More than six thousand of those aircraft ere built at the factory that later became Whirlpool.
