Mayor Lloyd Winnecke of Evansville tells the WIKY Morning Show that the numbers of COVID cases in this area are going the wrong way.
Winnecke says large gatherings are showing a lot of participants not wearing masks and not practicing social distancing.
He says that’s a major factor in the spike in cases.
Winnecke says he consults daily with state and county health officials.
He renews his call for more emphasis in mask wearing and social distancing.
And while he says no COVID cases are directly attributable to high school and local college athletics, he does see a lot of people in the stands too close together and unmasked.
